Since pioneering the house tour concept and introducing it to Ottawa in 1961, IODE Laurentian has held an annual House and Garden Tour every year since.
We pride ourselves on offering an eclectic selection of homes with knowledgeable volunteer interpreters. Here are the wonderful homes that were featured on our 2019 Tour: |
432 Rahul Crescent
Don’t miss our Bake Sale at this location! This is a large, single, family, custom built home has fantastic views across the Rideau River towards Mooney’s Bay. Many Indian works of art, artifacts and pieces of furniture including a wonderful carved swing in the living room are beautifully presented throughout the house. |
8 Crescent Road
This property has been the residence of the Ambassador of Tunisia since 1970. The house was built in 1917 for the late Admiral Sir Charles Kingsmill, founder of the Canadian navy. His wife, Lady Kingsmill, was Regent (President) of IODE Laurentian Chapter from 1918-1920 and from 1921-1922. |
91 Kenora Street
Designed in 2013 by Kariouk Associates is this stunning Smart Technology home which has a series of linked indoor/outdoor spaces that subtly bring the outdoors in and the indoors out by employing a continuous visual and spatial gap that cuts entirely through the space. The house feature glass, metal and slate materials, with 10-foot ceilings and built-in furniture and cabinetry throughout. |
251 Thorold Road
This home, currently the resident of the Algerian Ambassador, features North African history and culture. The house brims with beautiful ceramics – new and old – and antique metalwork. The house is also a showcase for the paintings of a famous Algerian artist – Mohamed Bouzid (1929-2014). |
60 Elm Street
This Centretown middle row house built in the late 1890’s has been renovated with a wonderful open concept living/dining room and kitchen. While keeping many original features, natural light and wood are used throughout the home for a contemporary yet relaxed and warm welcoming look. The renovation and interior design is by the award-winning Emma Doucet of Grassroots Design. The home was featured in the Ottawa Magazine in the Fall of 2018 and won 3 NKBA Ontario (National Kitchen and Bath Association) awards in February 2018. |
